Custom Splints & Orthosis
Splint fabrication and orthotic guidance to protect, support and offload injured tissue.
What this treatment is, and how it works
Custom splints and orthoses protect injured tissue, hold reduced positions and offload painful structures during healing.
We fabricate selected splints in clinic and guide you through orthotic options for foot, ankle and knee where off-the-shelf or custom devices are appropriate.
Conditions it commonly addresses
- Wrist, thumb and finger immobilisation after injury
- Mallet finger, trigger finger and selected hand conditions
- Tennis elbow and golfer's elbow support
- Ankle bracing during return to sport
- Knee bracing for ligament protection
- Foot orthotics for plantar fasciitis and flat-foot pain
What we do, step by step
- Indication ReviewWe confirm a splint is the right tool — not all pain needs one.
- FittingPosition, length and contour are taken individually.
- Wear ScheduleClear instructions on full-time, day-only or night-only wear.
- Skin & Comfort CheckPressure points and skin tolerance are reviewed at each visit.
- WeaningWe plan how and when to come out of the splint, paired with strengthening.
In a session
Fitting takes 30–45 minutes. A splint that hurts or causes redness is not a correctly fitting splint — return for adjustment.
Recommended sessions
1 fitting visit, plus 1–2 reviews during the wear period.
Who should avoid this
Active skin infection or open wounds at the splint site without a dressing plan.
What you can expect from our team
- Splints are part of a rehab plan, never the whole plan
- Adjustments included for the duration of wear
- Honest advice on when off-the-shelf is just as good
