Cardiorespiratory physiotherapy uses breathing techniques, airway clearance and graded exercise to improve breathing efficiency and exercise tolerance.

We work with emphysema, asthma, COPD, bronchiectasis and rehabilitation after cardio-thoracic surgeries.

What we do, step by step

  1. Baseline TestsSix-minute walk test, breathing pattern and chest examination.
  2. Breathing Re-educationDiaphragmatic breathing, pursed-lip breathing and pacing.
  3. Airway ClearanceActive cycle of breathing, postural drainage where indicated.
  4. Graded ExerciseWalking and resistance training titrated to your tolerance.
  5. Self-ManagementAction plan for exacerbations and home exercise.
WHAT TO EXPECT

In a session

Sessions are paced and well-monitored. Vital signs are checked regularly during exercise.

DURATION

Recommended sessions

Typically 8–12 sessions over 4–8 weeks, with review every 3 months.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Who should avoid this

Unstable cardiac conditions, severe acute exacerbations — referred back to your physician first.
